Carroll A. Dickinson, 67, of Kalamazoo, Mich., passed away in his home following a lengthy illness on Thursday, Dec. 16.

Carroll was born on Aug. 19, 1932 in South Bend, Ind., the son of Jesse and Helen (Bledsoe) Dickinson.

He was a combat veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Carroll received his Masters Degree from Indiana University in Social Work and spent his entire career working in the mental health field. Most recently he worked at the Calhoun County Mental Health Department as the criminal justice liaison for the sheriff's department.

On Feb. 11, 1968, Carroll was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Ingle, who survives. He is also survived by his son, James (Pamela) Dickinson of Kalamazoo; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Dickinson of Battle Creek; four grandchildren, Renee, Michele, Carmen and Michael Dickinson; three step-grandchildren, Darrell Morris, Zunilda Ruiz and Ashleigh Tillman; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Colridge T. (Rosalie) Dickinson of South Bend; a sister-in-law, Mae Dickinson of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael in 1981; and by two brothers, Roland T. and Val Jean Dickinson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21, in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with Rev. Robert G. Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in Mr. Ever-Rest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
