Charles "Chuck" J. Eaton

June 6, 1931 ~ December 23, 2024          93 Years Old

Chuck Eaton passed peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2024. He was born June 6th, 1931, in South Bend, IN to Delbert and Annette Eaton. He graduated from John Adams High School in 1950. One lucky day on a crowded city bus, Chuck met his future wife and love of his life, Shirley Burke, with whom he spent over 69 years as man and wife.

Chuck spent much of his life working at Lithotone Printing, where he retired as a Vice President, and raising three energetic boys with Shirley. After Chuck retired, they spent 26 winters in Auburndale, FL, enjoying the golf and sunshine. Every year, they returned to Mishawaka in the spring and stayed through the Notre Dame football season and came home again for a snowy Christmas with their family.

Chuck loved fishing trips to Canada with his sons and brother, and grilling steaks while friends and family swam in his pool. He spent 38 years as an usher at Notre Dame football games, eventually serving as the lead usher. He will always be remembered as a hard-working, ethical man who relished spending time with his boys and their families, relaxing at his cabin in Michigan, and cheering on the Irish, the Bears, and the Cubs.

Chuck is survived by his sons, Michael (Tammy) Eaton, Donald Eaton, and Daniel Eaton. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Robin Eaton, Charles Jr. (Amanda) Eaton, Jessica (Joshua Williams) Eaton, Daniel (Breanna) Eaton, Brittany Eaton and Hannah Eaton. He was further blessed with four great-grandchildren, Jarod Stewart, Jorja Bell, Olivia Eaton, and Bentley Albaugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Al (Bonnie) Eaton, his sister Marge Eaton and his infant son, Steven.
