Mr. Ralph R. Heck, 73, of Portage, Mich., died Sunday, September 13, at his residence.

Ralph was born Oct. 29, 1924 in Rensselaer, Ind., the son of Ralph and Dorothy (McClellan) Heck. He grew up in South Bend and graduated from John Adams High School. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 33 years as Regional Service Manager at Outboard Marine Corporation and prior to that at Oliver Outboard Motors. He was a member of the Portage/Schoolcraft Eagles Lodge, Aerie No. 3531 and the F.O.P. Lodge No. 155.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Heck in 1979 and by a daughter Kathleen Heck in 1983.

Surviving are two sons, Richard C. (Patricia) Heck of Mishawaka, Timothy Heck of Carlsbad, Calif.; one daughter Kimberly Paska of Kalamazoo; 3 grandchildren, Roxanne (John) Pallo of Granger, Ryan Paska of Kalamazoo and James Heck of Carlsbad, Calif.; one sister Joyce Smith of South Bend; two brothers, Tom Heck of Granger, and William Heck of Florida; special friends, Fonda Czitterberg and Jim Goole.

Services will be held at 1:00 Wednesday at the Langeland Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., Portage, Mich., with the Rev. Richard Liggett officiating. Interment in South Portage Cemetery.

Friends may meet the family Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Portage Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Community Advocates (former K.A.R.C.) or the American Cancer Society.
