SOUTH BENDHarold E. Patty, 70, of Eisenhower Drive, died at 10:50 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness.

Mr. Patty retired in 1979 from U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier after 30 years of service. He was born April 1, 1924, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On Sept. 27, 1946, in South Bend, he married Bridget Leszewski. She died Oct. 15, 1977. He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Newmeyer of Pittsburgh and Maureen VerVaet of South Bend; four sons, Michael of South Bend, John and Steven, both of Mishawaka, and Eric of Granger; 10 grandchildren; and three sisters, Phyllis Powell of South Bend, Helen Fagen of Las Vegas and Sharon Rydzinski of Sarasota, Fla.

He was a veteran of World War II and past president of National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 330.

There will be no services or visitation. Cremation will take place. McGann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
