Jack Evans Wilhelm, 73, passed away at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 5, in his home.

He was born on April 27, 1926, to Wilma (Evans) and Dean John Wilhelm in South Bend, Ind. He graduated in 1943 from John Adams High School.

He graduated from Purdue University in 1947. He was a member of the Student Senate, president and vice president; Delta Tau Delta, president; Gimlet Club, vice-president; Fraternity Presidents' Council, Treasurer; Intramural Sports; Junior Prom Committee, Chairman; Skull and Crescent; and the Sophomore Coalition Committee, chairman.

On July 22, 1950, he married Sally Marie Sunderlin of South Bend. Jack was a realtor for 27 years in the South Bend area, graduated from the Realtor Institute in 1979, and obtained his broker's license in 1977. He was a certified residential specialist (charter member), was on the board of directors for Goodwill from 1967 to 1976, and was chairman of the Gallery of Homes Show. Jack was also on the board of directors for Penn High School's Building Trades Corporation, a lifetime member of Indiana Demolay, a member of St. Joseph Lodge #45, a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, and was a member of the 50-Year Club for Purdue University.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Jane (Martin) Curdes, Barbara (Charlie) Roederer and Carol (Dale, Jr.) Schenkel, all of Carmel, Ind., Wendy (Greg) McGinnis of Walkerton and Sarah (Bill) Parks of Lake-in-the-Hills, Ill.; and by his 13 grandchildren, Carrie, William, Emma and Grace Curdes, Lauren and Tom Roederer, Christopher, Ashley, Chad and Jason Schenkel, Shawn McGinnis, and Beth and Michael Parks.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9, in the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church. Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Thursday.

The Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
