Betty M. Krueper, 79, passed away with her family at her side at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, April 2, in Memorial Hospital.

She was born in South Bend on April 15, 1926, to Harry V. and Irene (Fetters) Brunette.

Betty and Louis W. Krueper Sr. were married on August 3, 1946, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Bend. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and a dearly loved sister and aunt. Mrs. Krueper is survived by Lou, her husband of 59 years; and daughters, Beverly (Stephen) Grove and Mary Ann (Christopher) Kruk; sons, Louis (Judy) Krueper Jr. and David (Chris) Krueper; 11 grandchildren, Stephen Grove, Sean Grove, Jocelyn Grove, Chelsea Grove, Beau Kruk, Mathew (Cherise) Krueper, Billy Krueper, Liz Krueper, Sarah (Mark) Futa, Emily (Aaron) Bolin and Drew Krueper; and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sisters, Lucille (John) Burkart and Audrey (John) Lackman, and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and by her sister, Lorraine Wolf, and her brother, Donald Brunette.

Betty was wonderful wife and mother who was a role model for all who knew her. We, the members of her family, will never forget her devotion to God and the manner in which she met all obstacles that came her way. Her beautiful approach to life and her dignity at the time of death was a lesson for us all.

She was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church in South Bend where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 6, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, to The American Cancer Society, to The American Lung Association, or to the charity of your choice.
