Joseph Louis Mester, Jr. of Culver, died June 7, 2016 at Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton; he was 89. Born in South Bend to the late Joseph L. and Anna (Fabian) Mester, he had one sister, Ann Parkus, also deceased.
On January 14, 1951 he married Dorothy Marie Paul who preceded him in death on January 21, 2010. They were married 59 years.
Joe was a life long resident of the Michiana area. He graduated from John Adams High School in 1943 and served in the U. S. Army during WW II, stationed in Italy. He retired from General Liquor, a wine wholesaler and importer, in South Bend, Indiana. An avid gardener, he always had a bumper crop of tomatoes and peppers.
He is survived by three children, David (Marjorie) Mester of Edwardsburg, MI, Paul (Jennifer) Mester of Walkerton, IN and Steven Mester of South Bend, IN. Grandchildren include Cameron, Montana Rose, Shane Mester, Heather Young and Noelle Warren. Great-grandchildren include Jeff and Austin Young, and Lola Hettrick.
The Odom Funeral Home, Culver is assisting with arrangements.
