Martha Joan Jacobs, 78, of Dresden Drive, South Bend, passed away at 4:45 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2005, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
She was born on September 1, 1927, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Garry Vern and Jessie Roosevelt (Clingapeal) Kimmel. On August 12, 1950, in South Bend, she married Kenneth Jacobs who preceded her in death on November 23, 1998.
Mrs. Jacobs is survived by three daughters, Karen Sue (Scott) Srmek of Niles, Sandra Joan (Richard) Arndt of Cassopolis, Cynthia Ann (Michael) Kirila of Fort Wayne; two sons, Gregory Allen (Brenda) Jacobs of Osceola and Michael Kenneth (Bonnie) Jacobs of New Carlisle; eleven grandchildren, Laura Herrell, Michael, Karrie, Scott and Kristen Jacobs, Jennifer Bradley, Sara and Jessie Kirila, Adam, Allison and Lauren Srmek; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jacobs was a lifelong area resident. In her early years, she worked as a bookkeeper for Associates. She helped with bookkeeping, office work and served as co-owner with her late husband at the Ken Jacobs Auto Mart from 1965-1980 and then from 1980-1985 at the Mishawaka Auto Auction.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2005, in Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Pastor Bob Jackson of the 1st Church of God, Niles, will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2005, in the funeral home.
