Services for Alan E. Nelson, 61, of North Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of 2005 Coventry Trail, who died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday in Cape Coral (Fla.) Hospital, were held today in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road. Entombment was in Portage Chapel at Riverview Mausoleum.
Survivors include his mother, Lura Nelson of South Bend.
Memorial contributions may be made to West Coast Health Foundation Inc., 708 Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral, Fla., 33904.

Services for Alan E. Nelson, 61 of North Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of 2005 Coventry Trail, who died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday in Cape Coral (Fla.) Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road.
Entombment will be in Portage Chapel at Riverview Mausoleum. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to West Coast Heath Foundation, Inc., 708 Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral, Fla. 33904.
Mr. Nelson and his father, Carl A.C. Nelson, founded the former Nelson Engineering in 1947, of which the younger Mr. Nelson became president in 1962.
He was born Sept. 3, 1927, in South Bend and moved to Florida two weeks ago from South Bend. On July 12, 1957, in South Bend, he married Joan Jackson, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Judith Ann Nelson Ayres of Austin, Texas; and a son, John A., of Austin.
Mr. Nelson was a member of St. Joseph Lodge 45, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, Orak Shrine Temple, past member of South Bend Country Club and Klinger Lake Country Club, and past president of Indiana Subcontractors Association.
Mr. Nelson was a graduate of Purdue University, where he was affiliated with Phi Kappa Psi. He was an Army veteran.
