BERNICE I. LEWIS

SOUTH BEND - Bernice I. Lewis, 80, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008 in Sun City Center,
Florida. She was the daughter of Ferd and Blanche (Freese) Alderfer. She married Don
C. "Whitey" Lewis, who preceded her in death. She was employed at Studebaker and
moved to New Jersey in 1964 to work at Mercedes-Benz. She retired in 1990 and
enjoyed golfing and the Florida sunshine. Surviving are her brother, Wayne Alderfer of
Sun City Center, Fl; her nephew, Greg Alderfer of South Bend, IN; two nieces, Linda
York of Greencastle, IN and Bonnie Michel of Auburn, NY, and her great niece, Jennifer
Boller, of Indianapolis, IN. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister,
Joyce Alderfer. Interment will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 8, in Southlawn
Cemetery, 61300 U.S. 31 South, South Bend, IN. Afterwards the family will gather at
Residence Inn, 716 North Niles Avenue, South Bend, IN to share memories. Palmer
Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family.
