Richard "Dick" Fohrer, 76, of Amberwood Lane, South Bend, Ind., died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.

Dick was born on July 19, 1927, in South Bend, to John C. and Ethel (Phillips) Fohrer.

On Oct. 15, 1949, he was married to Katherine DeLong, who preceded him in death on Dec. 21, 1994. Then on May 3, 1997, in South Bend, he married Corrine Cottrell, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Sharon (Rev. Al) Jahneke of Hartland, Wis., Elaine (Joe) Hill of New York City and Lynda (Gunnery Sgt. Todd) Warden of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; and by three sons, Jon (Debbie) Fohrer of Fishers, Ind., Frank Cottrell of Minneapolis, Minn., and Ross (Elisa) Cottrell of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; and by 15 grandchildren, Heather (Shawn) Taylor, Jacob Jahneke, Jonathan Fohrer, Nicholas Fohrer, Cory Fohrer, Lucas Fohrer, Andrea Cuccaro, Larry Warden, Cody Warden, Amber Warden, Tory Njardvik, Courtney Njardvik, Dylan Cottrell, Emma Cottrell and Maria Cottrell.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Fohrer.

From 1969 until 1997, he lived in Fort Wayne, Ind. Dick retired from AEP in 1990 where he was a supervisor of "Right of Way." Dick was a member of First Presbyterian Church of South Bend, and was a member of the Jaycee's during the time they were instrumental in the building of "Storyland Zoo." He enjoyed classical music, playing golf and reading.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, with Rev. David Morrow officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home. Entombment will take place at Highland Cemetery.
