James Lile Bomberger was born March 17, 1930 in Aurora, Illinois and died in Temple, Texas on February 4, 2018. Jim graduated from Northwestern University and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He received his MBA from the University of Dallas. Jim was a Registered Professional Engineer and retired from both Rockwell and E-Systems Greenville Division.
He was an ardent volunteer and servant in his church and community. Church activities included starting two missions, one which formed Christ Episcopal Church in Plano, serving on Vestries including Senior Warden, Cursillo Leader and Kairos Prison Ministry.
In the community, Jim volunteered with the City of Plano Police, Fire and HR departments, Children's Advocacy Center and Habitat for Humanity. Jim was named the Living Treasure for Volunteerism by the Plano Parks and Recreation department.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) R. Bomberger, and son John J. Bomberger. He is survived by his son William (Bill) C. Bomberger and wife Sharon and daughters Julie B. Lindley and husband Bill, and Susan B. Johnson and husband Darrel. He has four grandchildren Katherine Lindley, Lou Lindley, Katherine Foote and Marcus Bomberger.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany or the charity of your choice.
Jim's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. at the church by the Rev. Betsy Randall, Associate Rector of Epiphany. Interment will follow immediately after the service in the Epiphany Columbarium.
Reception follows in the Servants' Hall Gathering Area.
