SOUTH BEND - Dorothy J. Helvey, 65, of White Stable Lane, died after an illness at 6:20 a.m. Friday in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Helvey retired in 1994 from University Park Physicians as a practical nurse after 32 years of service.
She was born Aug. 22, 1930, in South Bend. On May 22, 1982, in South Bend, as Dorothy Bothast, she married John F. Helvey.
He survives with a daughter, Jill Harrigan of Cleveland; a son, Kevin Twomey of San Jose, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Cindi Stopczynski, Cathie Pynaert and Cheri Helvey, all of South Bend; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home. Cremation will take place, with burial at a later date in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
