Joan Ruth Burton

Joan R. Burton, of South Bend, died at 2:56 p.m. Sunday November 19, 2006, in Memorial Hospital.
Joan was born in South Bend on May 28, 1930, to George M. and Edith B. (Whiteman) Erhardt.
She married Floyd L. Burton in South Bend on January 28, 1951. Mrs. Burton is survived by Floyd her husband of fifty-five years, a daughter, Barbara (Steven) Steffens of Cincinnati, Ohio, three sons, David (Mary) Burton of Indianapolis, Charles Burton of Indianapolis, and Andrew Burton of Providence, Rhode Island, fourteen grandchildren and three great grand-children. Among other survivors are a brother, Jack Erhardt of South Bend, five sisters, Jean VanBellingham of South Bend, Edith Jordon of Wyatt, Elizabeth McGowan of South Bend, Betty (Arthur) Gember of Three Oaks, MI. and Caryl (R.H.) Stevens of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. and her mother-in-law Elizabeth Burton of South Bend.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, a son Eric Burton who died February 9, 1962, and a brother George Erhardt.
Joan enjoyed putting puzzles together and crocheting. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in South Bend. She had formerly been employed with Burton Sultzer Associates in Rhode Island, where the Burtons resided for thirty-years.
