Richard Dean Foster

LAKEVILLE - Richard D. Foster, 85, of Lakeville, IN, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015, at the Center for Hospice in Elkhart, IN, with his loving and caring family at his bedside. In 1974 Richard built the family home in Lakeville, IN where he resided until his passing.
Richard was born on December 10, 1929, in Warren County IN to the late Henry M. and Ruby E. (Foster) Foster. On June 29, 1952, Richard married the former Doris M. Bottorff in Mishawaka, IN. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Doris of 62 years; they would have celebrated their 63rd anniversary in June. Richard and Doris are also survived by their 5 children, Debra K. Foster of South Bend, IN Dennis R. (Debbie) Foster of Lakeville, IN, Sandra L. Davis of Lakeville, IN Kevin (Lisa) Foster of Iowa, and Susan (Kirk) Frick of Lakeville, IN. Richard was a grandfather to 16 grandchildren Jeffrey (Abbey) Foster, David Foster, Lindsay (Daniel) Maslowski, Brandon Reynolds, Shane Davis, Samantha Nibbelink, Julane (Jon) McCarrell, Hannah Foster, Seth (Courtney) Foster, Ethan (Kate) Foster, Jonathan Foster, Micah Foster, Max Foster, Jack Foster, Grant Frick, Bailey Frick and 11 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Max (Ruby) Bottorff, sisters in-law, Alice Meloy, Betty Corey and Jean (Bob) Fitterling, along with many nephews and nieces.
Richard is preceded in death by a grandson Jared Foster, a brother, Charles Foster and 2 sisters, Vivian Woods, Virginia Gibbs, 2 brothers-in-law, Ted D. Meloy and Neil D. Corey
Richard graduated from John Adams High School and was a member of the Track and Cross Country Team. Richard worked at the Studebaker Corporation until it closed. Richard retired as a machinist from Dodge Manufacturing in 1991, after 30 years of service. Richard and Doris would spend the winter months in Frostproff, FL. Richard played in golf leagues and trap shooting leagues. He played on organized men's softball teams in South Bend and Mishawaka. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and had a lifelong love for horses, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, with the service at 1:00 pm at the Bubb Funeral Chapel 3910 N. Main St Mishawaka. Burial will follow the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN. The family requested in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Rush University Medical Center C/O Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorder Program, 1725 W Harrison St. Chicago, IL. 60612.
