With heavy hearts but treasured memories, we announce the passing of Doraann Stauffer, a cherished soul and beacon of light to all who knew her. Born on November 20, 1930, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Courtney and Helen Rose Bowman, Doraann spent a life rich in love and service before leaving us on May 6, 2024, in the same beloved town of her birth.

Doraann's journey through life was marked with the joy of family and the pride of her career. She was the devoted mother of Mark Andrew (Joyce) Stauffer of Bloomington, Eric Martin Stauffer of Canberra, Australia, and Paul David (Trudy Bolin) Stauffer of Downers Grove, Illinois. Her legacy lives on through her loving sister, Beverly Allen of California, and her sister, Marylou Rothballer of Missouri. She was preceded in passing by her brothers, Robert E. Bowman and Richard O. Bowman.

No stranger to devotion, Doraann stood as a matriarch, boasting six grandchildren, including Adrienne Maria (Corey Gagne, her partner) Stauffer of Portland, Maine; Gwendolyn Eve (Jordan) Stauffer of Hawaii; Georgette Dawn (Jeremiah) Plummer of Ellettsville, Indiana; Dinah Sue (Chris) Marshall of Terre Haute, Indiana; Eileen Nicole (Kevin) Farmer of Santa Claus, Indiana; and Rachel Ann (Aaron) Stauffer of Canberra, Australia, along with nine adored great-grandchildren.

Professionally, Doraann was respected and admired as a Directory Assistance Operator at Indiana Bell, where she worked for fifteen years. Her diligence and warmth afforded her lasting friendships and a reputation of reliability and kindness.

Doraann's life mirrored the virtues of care and constancy. We remember her for her enduring love, unwavering support, and the quiet strength that defined her character. Her memory will eternally be a source of comfort and inspiration for her family and all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.

Per her wishes, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to ALS Association, 9449 Priority Way West Drive - Suite 130, Indianapolis, IN 46240. Palmer Funeral Homes – River Park Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
