Robert “Bob” William Annis Jr

Robert “Bob” William Annis Jr., 94, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on February 25, 2025. Bob was born on April 10, 1929 to the late Robert William Annis Sr., and Reba Margaret (Troutwine) Annis.
Bob was a life-long resident of South Bend and attended Perley grade School and graduated from John Adams High School in 1947. He then went on to serve his country in the Army. Upon discharge he entered the University of Notre Dame on the GI Bill graduating in 1958.
On August 20, 1977, Bob married Kathryn “Katie” McAtee who survives him. Also surviving are his children, Martin Annis and Tracy (Christos Kartson) Annis; and brother, Larry (Beverly) Annis.
Bob retired from the South Bend Medical Foundation in 1991 after 44 years of service. He served as Vice President of administration for the last 10 years he was there.
Bob joined the South Bend Rotary Club in 1979 becoming Secretary in 1985, serving for 18 years. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Bob.”
Bob also spent over two decades of service with the United Way of St. Joe Co. as a Volunteer, Allocation Division Chairman and Board Member. He was also a Board Member and held offices with the Cystic Fibrosis Council of Elkhart Co., Visiting Nurses Association, the Voluntary Action Center and the Winding Brook Park Association. But, he was most proud of leading the committee that organized the food bank of northern Indiana which opened its doors in 1993.
Bob loved to “get down and dirty” in his yard and the flower beds. He also loved to follow the Irish football team especially to away game locations where he met great people. Bob enjoyed traveling and seeing beautiful sites like Ireland.
A Visitation will be held for Bob at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, Granger, on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. Funeral Services will also be held at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at noon with visitation one-hour prior. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the South Bend Rotary Charitable Foundation, 108 Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN 46601 and the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, 702 Chapin St., South Bend, IN 46601.
