SOUTH BEND - Patrick J. Biggs, Sr., 86, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 12:15 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2014 in his home, surrounded by family. Patrick was born on May 14, 1928 in South Bend to Ross J. and Helen (Couch) Biggs.

He retired from United Beverage, where he was employed as a Beer Salesman. He had also been employed with Studebaker and Sunnyside Beverage. On September 20, 1952 he married Teresa E. Schwartzfisher, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Karen (Terry) Kalemba of Rockford, Michigan and Jean (Tom) Gooley of Westerville, Ohio; seven sons, Michael (Patti) Biggs of South Bend, Indiana, Patrick (Andrea) Biggs, Jr. of Mishawaka, Indiana, Kevin Biggs of Kankakee, Illinois, Joe Biggs of South Bend, Indiana, Richard (Margo) Biggs of South Bend, Indiana, Robert (Holly) Biggs of South Bend, Indiana and Thomas (Tracy) Biggs of Granger, Indiana; eighteen grandchildren; Jean, Courtney, Lynsey, Colin, Briannne, Adam, Justin, Karen, Eric, Jason, Kim, Andrew, Matthew, Sarah, Ryan, Christian, Austin, and Zachary; eight great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Sara Biggs of New York. Patrick was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyliss Steinke and Mary Grace Risser; and four brothers, Fred, Ross, Tom and Don Biggs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2014 in Corpus Christi Church. Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m..

Patrick was a member of Corpus Christi Parish. He graduated from Adams High School and had been employed at Studebaker and as a Milk Delivery Man for Oak Ridge Dairy before becoming a Beer Salesman at Sunnyside Beverage. Patrick was a former usher at St. Matthew Cathedral. He volunteered at the St. Augustine Soup Kitchen, Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, St. Joseph Medical Center, and St. Vincent DePaul Society Center. He enjoyed golfing, Notre Dame sports, and watching his children and grandchildren's activities. Patrick was a very hardworking, loving, faithful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
