Aug. 21, 1929 – Apr. 20, 1977

Byron Wayne Donoho, 47, of 1417 E. McKinley, was dead on arrival at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital of an apparent heart attack. He was manager of the electrical department of Ideal Consolidated Co.

He was born on Aug. 21, 1929 in South Bend. On July 3, 1948, he married Anita Nyikos, who survives, along with a daughter, Becky of South Bend; two sons, Mark and Michael, both of South Bend; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Schue of Verdes, Calif., and Mrs. Marsha Bolin of Carmel, Ind.; two brothers, Merrill of Minneapolis and Meredith of Grand Rapids, Mich., and his mother, Mrs. Ida C. Donoho of South Bend.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, Rev. John Goodpasture, pastor emeritus, officiating. Entombment will be in Riverview Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson, where a memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday by Portage Lodge 675, Free & Accepted Masons, of which he was a member.

He also was deacon of the church, chairman of the National Electrical Contractor’s Association, and a member of the Masonic Supreme Council and Avalon Grotto. He was a trustee of the pension fund and chairman of the apprenticeship training program of Local 153, IBEW. He received the Man of the Year Award for 1977 from the IBEW.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
