Louis L. LaCosse, 94, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the Ernestine Raclin House.  Louis was born on December 6, 1929 in South Bend to Louis and Lillian (Dixon) LaCosse, and was a lifelong resident. 

He retired from the South Bend Fire Department, where he was employed as a firefighter for 42 years. Louis only missed one day of work in his 42 years with the fire department.  He had also worked as a delivery driver for Coca-Cola for over 30 years. 

On August 22, 1953, in South Bend, he married Barbara Thomas, who preceded him in death on March 23, 2020. He was also preceded in death by his three sisters, Edith Gardner, Joan Huddleston, and Barbara Burnett.  Louis is survived by his daughter, Jody (Daniel) Madigan of South Bend, Indiana; his son, Mark (Michelle) LaCosse of Granger, Indiana; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Kole) Kracher, Nathan (Heidi) Daren, Jenae (Josh) Newburg, Bryce LaCosse and Austin LaCosse; six great-grandchildren, Ellie Daren, Jacob Daren, Blake Kracher, Heath Kracher, Eli Newburg and Kensington Newburg;  his brother, Gilbert (Geraldine) LaCosse of South Bend, Indiana; and his brother-in-law, Don Huddleston of Cassopolis, Michigan. 

Louis was an Army Veteran and a Cubs fan.  He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Memorial Contributions should be directed to the Center for Hospice Care. To honor his wishes, there will be no visitation or services
