GRANGER - Thomas J. Latoski, 89, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Bell Tower Health and Rehabilitation Center, Granger.

Tom was born August 11, 1928 in South Bend, IN to the late Stanley Latoski and Barbara Niezgodski. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Josephine and Theresa Latoski; and by his brother, Stanley Latoski.

Surviving are his daughter, Theressa Latoski of Silver City, New Mexico; his son, Gregory (Kim) Latoski of Half Moon Bay, CA; and his stepsons, Gene (Ann) Mitchell of Victorville, CA and Terry Mitchell of Spokane, WA. Tom also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Kristen, Ashley, Ryan, Nicolas, Rylee, James and Ben; along with his sisters, Marietta Rafferty of Rensselaer, IN and Bernadette Micinski of Mishawaka, IN. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Diane DeBlock of Osceola, Anne Micinski of Mishawaka, Mike Micinski of Rocky Mount, NC, Brenda YaDAV of Scottsdale, AZ, Tom Micinski of Chicago, IL, and Bethanne Hall of Hawthorne Woods, IL.

Tom attended Saint Monica School and Nunner Elementary School, and the John Adams High School. After high school Tom attended Acme School of Tool/ Die Design and Engineering, where he learned to master his trade. Tom proudly served his country when he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on September 23, 1947. During his four year term in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was a Sergeant, he was able to enjoy both time in the U.S., Midway Island, along with Korea and Japan. Tom was a proud member of the “Chosen Few,” which is the Marine Corps slogan. Tom worked over 40 years in the Tool Engineering & Design field, working for several companies over the years. Much like his military career, his professional career took him all over the country. He retired in 1989 as a Tool Design Engineer Senior, from Lockheed Corp. located in California.

Tom was a kind and loving man and will be missed by all who knew him. He spent time playing sports, fishing, hunting, and camping. Tom loved the outdoors.

Visitation for Tom will be on Friday, January 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Chris Lapp officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, where VFW Post 360/American Legion #161 Burial Team will give military rites.
