OBITUARY
RHODA M. BRADSHAW of South Bend, Indiana Age 53, of South Bend, IN, and formerly of Gary, IN, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2003. She was born on February 19, 1950 in Gary, IN. to Raymond M. and Aretta M. Bradshaw. She is survived by her father, Raymond M. Bradshaw of Hampton, VA.; one brother, Gordon E. (Angela); a niece, Kaylyn J. Bradshaw of Sauk Village, IL; a nephew, Gregory E. Bradshaw; four aunts, Cortez Morris and Geraldine (Otis) Pye, both of Gary, IN, Joan Shaw of Hobart, IN. and Mary Bradshaw Henry of Los Angeles, CA; one uncle, Roy E. (Dorothy) Bradshaw, also of Los Angeles, CA; and many beloved cousins, other relatives, and friends. Rhoda was preceded in death by her mother, Aretta M Bradshaw and grandmother, Lena M. Ewing.Rhoda graduated from Emerson High School in 1968, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and English from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. She moved from Gary to South Bend in 1975 and taught for many years in the South Bend School System, and served as the English Instructor for the OIC Program. She was employed by the Center Management Corp. as Residential Property Manager. A very active citizen, she was a member of the South Bend Civic Theatre, the St. Joe Valley Chapter of NOW (National Organization Women) Co-Chair, local Chapter: Vice-President Indiana State NOW; Chair -Diversity, National NOW; Board Member – Planned Parenthood, North Central Indiana; Co-founder, Reaching Out, Inc.; and served as TRANSPO Board Member. Family and friends gathered on Saturday, January 3, 2004 to celebrate and honor Rhoda’s life at the Charles Martin Youth Center, South Bend, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the charity of your choice in Rhoda’s name and memory. Arrangemtns entrusted to Clark-O’Neal Funeral Home, South Bend, IN.
