Gregory Trent Redding

Feb. 17, 1960 - Feb. 22, 2013

SOUTH BEND - Gregory Trent Redding, 53, of South Bend, IN, went home to be with the Lord February 22nd, 2013, in Louisville, KY.

Gregory was born Feb. 17, 1960, in Chicago, IL, to Ernest T. and Julia Carter (Jarrell) Redding. He was always known as the life of the party. He enjoyed making people laugh with his outlandish comments and unfiltered conversations. A graduate of Adams High School, Greg was a fixture on South Bend's East Side and looked forward to attending the East Side Reunion every year. He loved playing basketball, listening to music, watching movies, grilling, and most of all spending time with his family.

Gregory accepted Christ into his heart and had begun attending New Hope in Louisville, KY. After the death of his mother, he began to change his outlook on life and had come a long way from the man he once was. He had a big heart and never met a stranger. He always believed the best was yet to come, and lived by his new motto: Better Days Are Coming.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ernest and Julia Redding; two aunts, Marian Redding and Helen Carter; two uncles, Gerald Redding and Thomas Redding; and a very special friend, Richard "Squeaky" Williams.

Leaving to cherish his memory are three daughters, Ashley Redding and Breanna Redding, both of South Bend, IN, and Treasure Redding of Memphis, TN; and one son, Nicholas Martin of South Bend, IN; one grandson, Zaccheaus Griffin; his fiancée, Shawndell Talbert of Louisville, KY; one sister, Faith Redding of Chicago, IL; three brothers, William Bolds, Ernest Bolds and George Bolds, all of Indianapolis, IN; along with a host of family and friends.

Services for Gregory will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Alford's Mortuary. Visitation will occur from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has established an account for donations at Chase Bank.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where messages of condolence may be e-mailed to Alfordsmortuary@att.net, c/o the Redding family.
