NEW CARLISLE--Dorothy S. Pate , 96, of Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, died Thursday in the nursing home. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 25 in the chapel of Grace United Methodist Church, South Bend, where friends will be received following the service. Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Pate was a great teacher. We worked hard in her classes, choirs, and programs and yet had a lot of fun. She had high expectations and helped us to work together. She was well respected by her students and her fellow teachers.

Wow. Do I remember Mrs Pate. Who could forget her? She was strict with discipline and didn't allow much messing around in class. She did wonderful work with music and I wish that I had paid more attention to her teachings. RIP
