Staff Sergeant Nigel Wayne Pajakowski, age 24, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 16, 2026, on the Shoshone Trail at the Grand Canyon in Arizona.
Born on February 28, 2002, in South Bend, Nigel was the son of Peter Pajakowski and Rebecca Vincent. Driven by a strong sense of duty, purpose, and adventure, Nigel enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after graduating from John Adams High School. Over his military career, he served with distinction across the globe, with tours of duty in South Korea, Aviano, Italy, and Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona.
Nigel recently returned from a nine-month deployment to Abu Dhabi, performing his duty honorably, despite his strong personal objections to the perfidious and unholy aggression being carried out in our name against the Persian civilization.
Beyond his military service, Nigel threw his energy into a wide range of passions. He loved staying active at the gym, exploring new foods, playing video games online with his many friends, and building computers. More recently, he developed a deep appreciation for mechanics and craftsmanship, spending his free time working on cars, attending car shows, and immersing himself in the patience and precision of fine scale modeling.
Nigel was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Charles Pajakowski, and his great-grandparents, Bud and Louise Ritter.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Peter and Lori Pajakowski; his paternal grandmother, Carol Pajakowski; his sisters Sarah, Isadora, and Lauren; his very special aunt, Amy Pajakowski; his beloved cousin, Renee Montgomery; as well as numerous extended cousins, devoted friends, and fellow military service members who shared in his journey.
He is also survived by his maternal grandparents Dan & Ann Vincent, his maternal grandmother Jan Vincent, his uncle Erik Vincent, and his mother, Ra Vincent.

Nigel was profoundly loved, and his absence leaves an undeniable void in the lives of everyone who knew him. He will be remembered always for his sense of humor, his service, and the quiet impact he had on those around him. We miss him more than words can express.
