Lorena Rose Harwood

Lorena Rose Harwood, 63, of East Jefferson Boulevard, died on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Memorial Hospital.
She was born on March 15, 1935, in South Bend, Ind., to Jay and Luretta (Grandstaff) Rose.
Lorena was married in South Bend on Dec. 7, 1956, to Robert B. Harwood, who survives.
She is also survived by a daughter, Luretta Schmidt of South Bend; two sons, Boyd Harwood of South Bend and Jay Harwood of Granger, Ind.; and by eight grandchildren.
Lorena devoted many years to volunteer work at Memorial Hospital. She organized, opened and ran the gift shop for 15 years, was a member and past president of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and was past president and director of the Indiana Hospital Auxiliary. She was an active member of the 18-Hole Women's League at Morris Park Country Club and was a member and past president of the St. Joseph Valley Women's Golf Association.
Visitation for Lorena will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home by Rev. Edward Fritz, pastor of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery.
