Joseph William Walsh - Class Of 1980 VIEW PROFILE

Joseph W. Walsh of South Bend, IN was called home into the arms of our Lord after a brief fight with lung cancer. He was born the last of six children of James T. and Audrey M. Walsh in South Bend, IN.  He is survived by Linda Bradley (partner), daughter Kaitlynne Hazel Walsh of South Bend, and Shane (Arlene) Bradley of Argos, and five grandchildren.  He is also survived by his father, James T. (Jackie) Walsh Jr., and his brothers and sisters: Donna Reed (Eric Atkins) of South Bend; Robert (Sheila) Walsh of Mishawaka; Linda (Perry) Case of Florida; James (Diana) Walsh of South Bend; Mary (Mark) Miller of Florida; 12 nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews.  Joe is preceded in death by his mother Audrey M. Walsh, niece April M. Case, and nephew Joseph A. Walsh.

Joe went to John Adams High School before joining the family business (Thompson Auto Supply, Elkhart and Hoffman Bros. Auto Supply, South Bend) until he retired in May 2020 from the auto parts business.  Among being an avid Notre Dame football fan, he loved spending time taking pontoon boat rides around Shave Head Lake with his family, golfing with his father, playing Tiger Woods video game – which he almost beat, taking care of his lawn, dancing and being silly with the kids, they always knew they were going to have a good time when Uncle Joe was there!  He also loved studying the Sunday ads and shopping for groceries.  We always knew to call Joe before we went shopping because he knew where all the best prices were for the week! The one thing we’ll miss the most will be his famous cherry cheesecake he always made for the holidays.

Services for Joseph will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, December 28, 2020 at St. Pius X Catholic Church 52553 Fir Rd., Granger, IN 46530.  Friends may visit with the family from 2:00-6:00 pm Sunday December 27, 2020 at Palmer Funeral Home – Welsheimer North Chapel 17033 Cleveland Rd., South Bend, IN 46635.  In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Joseph may be made to American Cancer Society of North Central Indiana 130 Red Coach Dr. Mishawaka, IN 46545. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com
