Frederick James Letts, 67, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

Frederick was born on October 25, 1953 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Arthur and Marcella Letts, both of whom preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Samuel of Lake Forest, Illinois.

Frederick is survived by his sisters, Peggy Skoczylas of South Bend, Indiana, Deanna Letts of Madison, Wisconsin, Sandra Letts of Granger, Indiana, and Karen Lienczewski of Granger, Indiana; and his brothers, John Letts of Carmel, Indiana, Jerome Letts of South Bend, Indiana, Anthony Letts of Castle Rock, Colorado, Brian Letts of St. Augustine, Florida, and Arthur Letts of South Bend, Indiana.

Frederick attended St. Anthony de Padua grade school and Adams High School. Fred was a kind, gentle, compassionate and intelligent person who carried his many crosses courageously and without complaint or bitterness. Even though his life had many difficulties, he still had sympathy for others. He was an avid reader of a variety of subjects such as the Roman Empire, the Civil War, dinosaurs and many others and loved to discuss these subjects with you. His favorite places were bookstores and libraries. He enjoyed visiting museums, historic sites and sites unique to a region. He also liked to watch movies and play trivia games with family. He will be missed by all.

Funeral services for Frederick will be 11:00 AM on Friday, January 8, 2021 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Rd., South Bend, IN 46614 presided by Fr. John Delaney. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM prior to the funeral service. From St. Jude Catholic Church proceed to Fairview Cemetery.
