Roland A. Butler Jr.

Feb. 16, 1941 - May 18, 2011

GRANGER - Roland A. "Pete" Butler, Jr., 70, residing in Granger, IN passed away at 7 p.m. Wednesday at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He worked in Sales and Management for Sears for 31 years; then served as a Loan Officer at Teacher's Credit Union for twelve years retiring in 2006. Pete was born on February 16, 1941 in South Bend, IN to the late Roland Addison Butler, Sr. and Maxine Rose (Saberniac) Butler and remained a lifelong resident. On June 15, 1963 in Dowagiac, MI he married Patricia A. Neff, who survives.

Along with his loving wife, Patricia Butler, he is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline K. (Eric) Nizamoff of Naples, FL and Janine R. (Michael) Marty of Elkhart; and one son, Jeffrey P. (Susan) Butler of Springfield, OR. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Jenna R. and Nicholas A. Nizamoff, Jessica A. Midgley, Lauren M. Midgley, Samantha A. Marty, Zachary M. Marty, Katie Butler, Allison M. Butler and Michael J. Butler; his mother, Maxine Butler of South Bend; his sister, Sue A. (Louis) Balbo of Duncan, SC and his brother, Marty (Judy) Butler of South Bend.

Pete was a lifetime member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka and of Knights of Columbus. He was a Navy Veteran. Pete loved to travel, play golf, and enjoyed spending time with his family in Oregon and Florida, as well as visiting St. Martin. He lived life with a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye, and a warm and caring heart for those around him. He will be greatly missed, but always loved and remembered.

A Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Ave, Mishawaka to celebrate Pete's life. Friends may visit with the family from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend.
