James “Jimmy” Lechtanski

SOUTH BEND - James S. Lechtanski, 59, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Grand Beach, MI.

Jim was born November 14, 1956 to the late Stanley A. Lechtanski and Blanche F. (Piekarski) Lechtanski-Kloski.

Survivors of Jim include his sister, Carol (Tom) Koepp of Granger; niece, Melissa (Tim) Cornell; nephew, TJ (Amy) Koepp; and 3 great-nephews, Owen and Quinn Koepp and Caleb Cornell.

Jim was a graduate of Washington High School. He worked for Ameritech, SBC, and AT&T for almost 30 years. Jim was a proud member of St. Joseph Young Men's Society, Inc., Sons of the American Legion Post 357, ZB Falcons and PNA. He was an avid sports enthusiast; he loved Notre Dame, Detroit Lions, Chicago Cubs, White Sox and Blackhawks. He knew every sports trivia question. Jim enjoyed visiting Blue Chip and Four Winds Casinos. He also enjoyed fishing, going to concerts, collecting t-shirts, bike riding, Friday night fish fry's and all you can eat spaghetti dinners. Jim had a love for many things (work friends) but he had the greatest love for his family and furry friends (Harley and Gracie). Jim will be greatly missed but FOREVER in our hearts.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Grand Beach Police, Michiana Police, Pokagon Band Police and Berrien County Police and EMTs for their support.

By the way, he said he wasn't buying drinks for anybody! “Until we see you again...We love you and miss you!” Your family

Visitation for Jim is 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, September 1, 2016 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Friday, September 2, 2016 in Holy Family Catholic Church with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass in the Msgr. Galic Room. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Rd., South Bend, IN 46619.
