Olga Seitz
Jul. 27, 1930 - May. 22, 2021

SOUTH BEND - Olga Seitz of South Bend, loving mother and grandmother died peacefully on May 22, 2021 at 11:11 a.m. surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Los Angeles, California, on July 27, 1930, to Miguel and Juana Arriaga. Because Olga's parents died when she was very young, Olga was wonderfully blessed with second parents, The Rev. Encarnacion and Carmen Garcia of Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

She was the loving mother of four children: Linden (Stacey) Seitz of Englewood, Florida; Jane (Brian) Boyle of Jackson, Michigan; Tim Seitz of South Bend; and Sarabeth (Steve) Corbett of Westfield, Indiana. Her beloved grandchildren are Joshua, Brianna, Maria, Cameron, Clayton, Timothy, Patrick, Samuel, Madeline, and Abigail and five great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her brother Dr. D.J. Garcia of Sidney, Nebraska, and sister Laura Garcia of Sunnyvale, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; five (5) siblings (Chick, Janice, Genevieve, Eva Ruth, Margaret), infant son (Douglas) and Ronald Seitz, ex-husband and good friend.

Olga stayed home with her children when they were young and was very active in her children's activities: school, sports, Scouts, Sunday School, Reading mother, Southeast Little League and Riley High School.

Olga graduated from Scottsbluff High School, received her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees from University of Nebraska. From Indiana University, she received a Master of Science in Education. Olga retired from South Bend Community School system after 28 years of service, including teaching time in Colorado and Illinois.

On retirement, Olga enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, watching her soap operas, watching movies and going to the gym. She was an avid reader and loved doing counted cross stitchery and crossword puzzles. Her favorite football team was the team with Peyton Manning, now it is his commercials. Olga also followed Notre Dame women's basketball team, Notre Dame Football and her beloved Chicago Cubs.

Olga was a busy volunteer worker. Her favorite was IRIS, the reading of the South Bend Tribune to the visually impaired for ten (10) years. Her other favorite was the Ronald McDonald House for whom she volunteered for five (5) years.

Olga Seitz, woman of faith, had a good life! And the “best is yet to be!”

There will be no visitation or services. Olga's wishes were to be cremated and her ashes interred privately. Palmer Funeral Homes-Bubb Chapel is assisting family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, Indiana, 46545.
