SOUTH BEND - Daniel A. Howard, 55, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 12:38 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on July 14, 1957, to Timothy and Theresa (Wegner) Howard in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. His father, Timothy Howard, preceded him in death on April 26, 2012, and his sister-in-law, Kirsten (Hershberger) Howard, also preceded him in death on February 1, 2013.

Daniel graduated in 1976 from John Adams High School in South Bend, IN. Daniel worked as a maintenance/kitchen assistant for Morris Park Country Club, the former Morrows Restaurant, and the University of Notre Dame, before retiring in 2008.

He is survived by his mother, Theresa B. Howard of South Bend, IN; a brother, John Howard of South Bend, IN; and two nephews, Timothy J. and Matthew Howard, both of South Bend, IN. Daniel was a member of Civitan and was an avid bowler.

Visitation will be from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 2114 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 9:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Logan Center, 2505 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615; or St. Anthony de Padua Parish, 2114 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46617. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
