Gary Miller (1958)

Ernest Litweiler was my favorite teacher and mentor. He was a family friend (Ernie and my father graduated from Manchester College as biology students around the same time). Ernie's son, John is one of my good friends, both of us 1958 Adams graduates. As a two year biology high school student, I delighted in skinning a polar bear (my thanks to Pott Zoo), Jr. Waltons adventures, and developing a life long love of biology.  I also graduated from Manchester College in 1962 after returning to Adams to do my student teaching in biology under Ernie. As a biology student teacher, I found him to be supportive, insanely knowledgable, and no easy taskmaster, for which I am extremely grateful. For whatever success I've had in my biology career, I thank you, Ernest Litweiler! May you rest in peace.
