Kristin Lydia Hemig (Daniels) - Class Of 1965 VIEW PROFILE

Kristin Lydia Hemig (Daniels)

Kristin Lydia (Hemig) Daniels, much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away on Dec. 13, 2021, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.  Kris was born Sept. 5, 1947, to George and Ulla (Eckman) Hemig and was raised in South Bend, IN.  Kris graduated from John Adams High School and was proud to go to Camp Eberhart each summer. She especially enjoyed performing in horse shows there. Kris spent much of her career in the insurance industry but also worked in manufacturing, both as an administrative assistant and customer service representative. She retired from NIBCO in 2009.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Terry Daniels, her sons, Ryan (Cristal) Blasko and Erin (Rada) Blasko, her stepsons William (Sherry) Daniels and Christopher (Jennifer) Daniels.  Surviving as well are her grandchildren; Nicholas, Brant, Felice and Lewyn Blasko, Emily and Andrew Daniels, and her sisters, Kathy Grenert and Karol (Mike) Leiter.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am-1:00 pm Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 1:00pm.  Kris will be laid to rest at a later date in California Road Cemetery, Elkhart.

Kris was always the joyful instigator and silly one of the family, but she could also write a beautiful poem.  Her love of animals was unmatched. She would pull over and rescue any lost pet and make sure it was well taken care of. She had a long list of pets herself, including two dogs, three beloved kitties and a cockatiel. She and Terry also enjoyed feeding their chickens each night. In her later years, Kris would leave work on her lunch hour and go to the Martin's Pet store in Elkhart and walk the dogs. This was one of her very favorite ways to spend time each week.  Kris always looked forward to spring when she could go to the local nurseries to pick out just the right flower baskets and annuals to plant all around her house.

Anyone who knew Kris always enjoyed her love of life. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
