DANIEL BRUNNER

Aug. 25, 1945 - June 5, 2013
SOUTH BEND - Daniel H. Brunner, age 67, residing in South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 9:00 a.m. June 5th, 2013, in the Sanctuary at Holy Cross. He was born August 25, 1945, to Herbert and Mary Magdalene Brunner.

Danny is survived by his cousin, Dollie Adkins, and her children, John Andrew Podemski, Matthew Edward Podemski and Rose Mary Podemski; and his niece, Mary Vegh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mary Magdalene Brunner, and by his sister, Dolores Vegh in March 2013. Danny was born in South Bend, Indiana, where he lived his entire life.

He graduated from Adams High School and was employed at the Farmers Market in South Bend.

Danny was the most selfless, compassionate and affectionate man, with an incredible sense of humor. His acts of kindness were always done in the humblest of ways. In addition to reaching out to friends with acts of kindness, he spent every day and endless hours in a nursing home with his companion and the woman he loved, Nancy Lantz, after her stroke. He always took the time to reach out to others with the most selfless love. He was this way with the people he loved and to the people he barely knew. He was someone who forever changed our lives by being an example of how to live and be completely fulfilled by giving to others.

Danny was a reflection of Christ's light and love. He was a very enthusiastic and hard worker, having worked at the South Bend Farmers Market for over 22 years. He was an avid reader and sports enthusiast, with the White Sox being his favorite team. He loved reading books on spirituality, theology and philosophy. He had a deep faith, which he beautifully expressed in his own writings. He also loved spending time with his many friends at the American Legion 303 and at the Farmers Market.

One of his truest blessings was his cousin Dollie, who through her own self-sacrificing love and compassion, devoted endless hours by his side throughout his illness, bringing him love, laughter, joy, and companionship.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the American Legion, Post 303, 2503 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, Indiana, on Thursday, June 20th, from 4-6 p.m. All who knew and loved Danny are invited. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the Brunner family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
