Zigfreid Davis - Class Of 1993 VIEW PROFILE

Zigfreid Davis

Jan. 20, 1975 - Oct. 25, 2016

SOUTH BEND - Zigfreid Davis, Sr., 41, affectionately called “Zig,” departed this life on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. He was born on January 20, 1975, in South Bend, Indiana, to Glenda Buchanon and Jonathan Davis, Jr. Zig received his formal education in the South Bend Community School Corporation, graduating from John Adams High School, Class of 1993.

For several years, he worked in the manufacturing industry, specifically for Peg Pegro. As his journey continued, Zig found his real niche! He loved to cook and would proudly brag about his delicious food. Zig honed his entrepreneurial skills and fulfilled his dream by becoming the owner of “Ziggaddy Spoon!” He realized that he was blessed to see his dream come to fruition, and he shared this blessing with those less fortunate. Zig was very welcoming and never met a stranger. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

“For I was hungry, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in. (Matthew 25:35). For seven years, Zig battled kidney failure. During his illness, he exhibited great strength and courage. He always maintained a positive attitude. Zig loved to sing and he lived life to its fullest! He liked to travel. His favorite place of peace was the Bahamas.

But out of all of Zig's accomplishments, nothing was more important to him than family. His greatest joy was taking care of his children. It goes without saying that Zig had a great love for his entire family and loved to host family gatherings. He never hesitated to say “I Love You!” Not only did Zig take care of his biological children, but he found room in his big heart to love and nurture numerous children as if they were his own.

Zig was loved by all and his memory will be cherished by his sons: Zigfreid, Jr., Zigkel, Zamale, ShaQuan, Javious, Zaavion, Keyshawn, Cincere and Zi'ayr; his daughters: Yasmine, Ashleigh, Shanice, Clarrissa and Iverie; his parents, Glenda Buchanon and Jonathan (Denise) Davis, Jr.; sisters: Cassandra Buchanon, Delise Adams and Kimberly Davis; brothers: Jonathan Davis III, Curtis Lax, Camron Davis and Curtis (Tiffany) Lee. Zig is also survived by 10 grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; his very special lady, LaToya Maxwell, and a special friend, Larry Powell. In addition, his best friends include Carlos Williams and Willie Chatmon. Zig will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Cora Moore, Alzate Murphy and Mason Murphy, and parental grandparents, Jonathan and Lucille Davis, Sr. “A Mother's Prayer” Thank you Lord for blessing me with a child filled with so much love.”
