DALE LEE JONES

Dale Lee Jones Aug. 14, 1958 - March 24, 2015 SOUTH BEND - On Tuesday, March 24, 2015, our loving brother, Dale Lee Jones, unexpectedly departed from this life. He was born August 14, 1958, in South Bend, Indiana, to the union of Mr. D. K. and Louise (Barr) Jones.

Mr. Dale Lee Jones attended South Bend Public schools, Franklin Elementary School, Jefferson Middle School and John Adams High School. He participated in sports, basketball, track and wrestling. Dale had such a witty sense of humor. Anyone who came into his presence, he would make them laugh!

Because of a tragic incident that happened to him in his late teens, Dale became a paraplegic. As a young man, Dale had an undefeated personality. He did not let being a paraplegic stop him from enjoying life. For years his hobbies were buying and fixing up old Cadillac cars; driving them using a pool stick all around town. He also was gifted with fixing up bikes for his nieces and nephews. He would attend all family functions and parties. We all will remember him always dancing in his wheelchair. Dale also loved to sing. He had a beautiful soprano voice. We loved to hear him sing his favorite song by One Way/Al Hudson, "Something in the Past."

Dale showed so much love and loyalty to his family, his nieces and nephews. Whenever there were family crisis, Dale would be there, even to the point of riding his hover-around to Memorial Hospital in the rain to see about a family member.

Family members who will cherish his memory are his mother, Mrs. Louise Jones; sisters, Mrs. Judy Jones-Thompson, Darlene Jones, Antonia Jones-Jennings and Tyree Grove; brothers, Dempsey Jones and DeWayne Jones; close friends, Stevie Hubbard, Mark Hines, Grace Malone, the Moody Family; his childhood friends, Mason, Michael and Mark Murphy, LaRenzo (Renny) Rogers; special cousins, Andre and LaMont Barr, Aaron, Eric, Gregg, Bruce, Timothy and Joseph Jones; and special aunts, Jacki Barr, and Aunt Hattie Mae Jones.

Preceding him in death were his father, Mr. D.K. Jones; maternal grandparents, Mr. James and Estelle Barr; paternal grandparents, Reverend Frank and Cora Jones; brother, Danny Thomas; and brother-in-law, Armond Thompson,

Funeral services for Mr. Dale Jones will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Pentecostal Cathedral Church, with interment following at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation is at 12 noon in the church. Alford's Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
