OSCEOLA - Roberta Ann "Bert" Loft, 43, of Osceola, passed away in her home on Saturday, February 23, 2008. Bert was born on April 14, 1964, in Hammond, IN, to Robert A. and Patricia (Galbreath) Loft.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia R. Ward; grandparents, Donald L. and Hazel R. Galbreath; and by her stepfather, Darwin E. "Bull" Ward.

Bert is survived by two daughters, Tasha A. Loft and Donali A. Hill, both of Osceola; father, Robert A. Loft of Osceola; one niece, Kristin A. Loft of Osceola; two brothers, Robert A. Loft Jr. of Mishawaka and Donald L. Loft of Osceola; two sisters, Kelly J. Ward of Osceola and Michelle J. Veness of South Bend. She is also survived by her aunt, Pamela (Howard) Higdon of Decatur, AL; and a cousin, Steven Estes of Decatur, AL.

Bert graduated from John Adams High School in 1981. She worked as a graphic designer in the RV industry until having several strokes in August 2005, leaving her unable to work. Struggling to overcome her health problems, she continued to raise her children while taking care of her home. She enjoyed babysitting her nieces, being a stay-at-home mother, and learning to cook. One of her great passions was learning about her Indian heritage with her father.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, with two hours of visitation prior to the services. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are to be made to the family to help with expenses. The family wishes to invite everyone to a luncheon following the services to be held at American Legion Post 308, Mishawaka.
