ALICE (OTOREPEC) MANKOWSKI

Alice H. Mankowski Jan. 12, 1928 - Oct. 16, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Alice H. Mankowski, 86, of South Bend, died in her home on October 16th, 2014, after a brief illness. She was born on January 12, 1928, in Peru, Illinois, to Joseph Otorepec and Franciska (Policnic) Otorepec.

She was pre-deceased by her sister, Frances Otorepec Jakse, and is survived by her husband, James, and children Mark (Mary Jo) Mankowski, Paul Mankowski, Joan Mankowski, Ellen (David) Tuchler, and Mary (Robert) Korajczyk, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She taught for many years in the South Bend Community School Corporation, finishing her career at John Adams High School.

She was a member of St. Pius X Parish in Granger; in later years, of Sacred Heart Parish at Notre Dame. The family wishes to acknowledge with particular gratitude the work of the caregivers of the Center for Hospice Care.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Parish at Notre Dame on October 20th, at 9:30 a.m. A wake will take place at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, on October 19, from 2 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Woman's Care Center of South Bend, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Center for Hospice Care of South Bend, and the Missionaries of Charity.
