NORMA (HARTMAN) STEWART

Sept. 9, 1935 - May 5, 2012
SOUTH BEND - Norma Sue Stewart of Dunellon, Florida, formerly of South Bend and Cassopolis, passed away peacefully at home on May 5, 2012, surrounded by her family. Norma was born in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Ruby Mae (Harrison) and Norman Alfred Hartman.

She grew up in South Bend and attended Lincoln School and John Adams High School.

She worked at Sears, Roebuck and Company in downtown South Bend where she met her future husband, who also worked at Sears.

On August 6, 1955, she married Robert James Stewart. Norma is survived by her loving husband; two daughters, Wendy (Stewart/Swienta l) Henry and Laura (Stewart / Etherington) Moss; six grandchildren, Debra (Swiental) Evans, Mary (Swiental) Hektor, Shane Etherington (Amber), Victor Etherington, Patrick Moss and the late Brittany Anne Moss; seven great-grandchildren, Cody and Austin Evans, Elliot Anne Hektor, Landon, Paige, Kaylee and Brooke Etherington; and two sisters, Catherine Anne Hartman and Neila Kay Rozow.

Norma loved to quilt, sew, cross-stitch, crochet, and make other things with her hands. She enjoyed bird watching and star gazing. She worked for the South Bend Police Department as a Crossing Guard. In 1998 she and Bob moved to Dunnellon, Florida, where she was past treasurer for the Lake Tropicanna Civic Association, and was a poll worker in her precinct. Norma was always cheerful and was a woman of deep faith in God. She belonged to the Riverland Baptist Church in Dunnellon. She will be greatly missed.
