ROBERT E. UNDERWOOD

SOUTH BEND - Robert E. Underwood, 84, former resident of South Bend, and recent resident of Ocala, FL, passed away July 7, 2010.

A graduate of John Adams High School, Mr. Underwood entered the Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific in World War II, and received the Purple Heart for injuries in the Korean Conflict. Robert also served as Commander of the South Bend post of the D.A.V. in the early 60s.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; four children, Connie Story, Cheri Snider, Robert A. Underwood and Jackie Hoyt. A private memorial will be held in Ocala.
