Walter Wilbourn, Jr.

Walter Lee Wilbourn Jr., resident of South Bend, IN, departed this life unexpectedly on March 11, 2024, at the age of 67. He was born on December 27, 1956, in Sledge, Mississippi to the late Affrann Wilbourn and Walter Griffin. 

Walter attended John Adams High School. He served in the Army, stationed in Germany. He received an honorable discharge with the National Defense Service Marksman Medal. Walter was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and a good friend to many. 

Walter is survived by his children, LaToya Cotton, Walter Wilbourn Ill, and Alicia Wilbourn; his grandchildren, LaTavia, Devin, Kerry, Lee'Chel, Chel'Lee, Marquon, Mercedes, Sofia, and Porter; his 
brother, Anthony Wilbourn; his special niece, Kenwana Johnson; his special cousin, Darlene Carter; and special friend, Angela Wilbourn. He was also survived by many close cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

Walter was preceded in death by his mother; his daughter, Jasmine Wilbourn; his sister, Melinda Wilbourn; cherished grandmother, Sally Nelson; cherished aunt, Betty Carter; and cherished cousin, Lee Carter. 

Walter loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed watching old westerns, especially Gunsmoke. He loved listening to music. He was always very stylish, and loved his hats and his Nike Air Force 1's. He was very organized and had a system for everything. He made being organized seem effortless, which was quite impressive. He was laidback and easy-going, and always up for a good time. He enjoyed traveling to St. Louis and Memphis to spend time with his family. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
