Marilyn Lee Locks, 61 , of Niles, Michigan, died after a very courageous three-year battle with lung cancer on Sunday, Aug. 21, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend, surrounded by her family. She was born April 8, 1944, in South Bend, the daughter of William J. "Billy" and Helen (Jordan) Locks.
Marilyn graduated from John Adams High School, South Bend, and went on to earn her licensed practical nurse degree from Memorial School of Nursing and her paralegal associate degree from Lake Michigan College. She spent 30 years as a practical nurse in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, St. Anthony Hospital, Michigan City, and Healthwin Hospital, South Bend. She also worked for Meijer's for five years, and had just retired in June 2005 from Notre Dame Snite Museum Security after working there for over eight years. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, South Bend.
Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Michele (Derek) Fodrocy of South Bend and Paula Van Lew of Mishawaka; husband, Michael of Niles, Ml; two grandsons, Taylor G. and Cody R. Fodrocy of South Bend; her mother, Helen Denslow of Mishawaka; a brother, William A. (Barbara) Detimer of Oswego, III.; and many loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her father, former St. Joseph County Sheriff William J. "Billy" Locks, and a baby boy, Cook in 1967
