SOUTH BEND Services for Richard W. Kraft, 47, of Durham, N.C., formerly of South Bend, who died at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday in his home after an illness, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Triangle Hospice, 1804 W. Southern Parkway, Durham, N.C. 27707.

Mr. Kraft was a teacher at Jordan High School, Durham, and was formerly a teacher at Washington and Adams high schools from 1969 to 1986.

He was born Nov. 17, 1943, in Tazewell, Tenn. In 1900, in Durham, he married Anne Murphy. She survives, with a daughter, Stephenie K. at home; a son, Avery A. of. Raleigh, N.C.; a stepson, Jeffrey Murphy at home; and his mother, Ezella S. Kraft of Mishawaka.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sigma Nu Fraternity, and was a graduate of Duke University and the University of Notre Dame
