Nelson L. Reese

SOUTH BEND - Nelson L. Reese, 81, of 630 30th St., died at 2:55 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Reese retired in 1975 South Bend Community School Corp. as a teacher at Adams High School. He was born Feb. 18, 1913, in Wauconda, Ill., and lived in South Bend most of his life.

On May 8, 1937, in South Bend, he married Joan Baldwin. She survives, with a daughter, JoAnn Swart of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a son, Thomas of Mishawaka; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Middleton of Aurora, Ill., and Theresa Reese of New York City; and a brother, John of South Bend.

He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and a member of the Notre Dame Alumni Club and Notre Dame Quarterback Club.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
