Thomas Lee McFarland, Sr., 68, passed away at 11:30 pm on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in the comfort of his home in Mishawaka, with his cherished daughter, Casi, by his side. Born on January 31, 1957, in South Bend, Thomas was a man whose laughter and love of life left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Thomas was a proud graduate of South Bend Adams High School. After graduation, he dedicated many years of service as a janitor for the City of Mishawaka at City Hall. Known for his hard work and easy-going nature, Thomas was the life of the party, always ready with a joke to share. His colleagues and friends will remember him as a man who brought joy and laughter into their lives.
A devoted father and loving family man, Thomas's world revolved around his daughter, Casi (Terry Glasco) McFarland. He was a beacon of love and support, always striving to make them happy and ensure they felt his love. Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Betty (Snoffer) McFarland, his son, Thomas McFarland, Jr., his sister, Sherryl Gruber, and his brothers, Patrick and Barry McFarland. He leaves behind his loving sister, Janice (David) Smith, and granddaughter, Brianna McFarland who, along with the rest of his family, will miss him dearly.
An avid fisherman, Thomas found solace and joy on the water. His passion for fishing was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his love for nature and the simple pleasures of life. His friends and family will fondly recall the stories of his catches and the tranquility he found while waiting for the next bite.
Thomas's legacy is one of love and laughter. He was a man who loved everybody and sought to lift the spirits of those around him. He never wanted to see anyone cry or be in pain. He always tried to cheer them up and make them happy. His presence was a gift to those who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire joy and kindness.
Thomas Lee McFarland, Sr. will be remembered as a loving and funny man, whose spirit and zest for life were truly infectious. As we bid farewell to a soul who has touched so many, we celebrate the laughter, the love, and the unforgettable moments he gave us. Rest in peace, dear Thomas; your legacy of joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.
