Gerald "Jerry" Williams, a cherished soul known for his loving nature, generous heart, and infectious humor, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, in his hometown of South Bend, Indiana, at the age of 86. Born on January 22, 1939.
Jerry attended South Bend Adams High School, where he first displayed his knack for leadership and camaraderie. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, a period of his life that instilled in him a deep sense of duty and honor. Jerry then embarked on a successful entrepreneurial journey as the owner of the City Limits Lounge in South Bend, which he operated for 42 wonderful years. His establishment became a local favorite, a testament to Jerry's ability to create a welcoming atmosphere and his genuine interest in the lives of his patrons.
Jerry's life was one of engagement and enjoyment. He was an avid reader and an enthusiastic supporter of Notre Dame Athletics, embodying the spirit of the Fighting Irish. His love for socializing was paralleled by his passion for the outdoors, where he often indulged in boating and cherished the many years spent at Camp Wildwood in Edwardsburg, Michigan.
Family was the cornerstone of Jerry's world. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with his long-time partner, Linda Andrews, and his children, Derek Williams, Brock (Kimberly) Williams, Mike Lepel and Robin (Lepel) Szweda. His role as a grandfather to Camden, Braylon, Alyson, and Parker Williams was one he embraced with joy and pride. Jerry's life was also enriched by the bonds with his siblings – Paul D. (Sandy), Fred E., Daniel J., Jim R., Eva Studebaker, Martha Fokey, Patricia Brewer, Robert, and Phil Williams.
Jerry's journey through life was shared with his ex-wife, Susan R. (Bleasdale) Williams, who remained a valued part of his extended family. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, William and Eva Williams, leaving behind a treasure trove of memories and stories that will continue to inspire and comfort those who knew him.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Jerry will recall his generous spirit, which was as boundless as his sense of humor. He had the rare ability to light up a room with his presence and could ease any burden with his laughter. Jerry was a man who lived his life with a full heart, ensuring that those around him felt his warmth and kindness.
As we say farewell to Gerald "Jerry" Williams, we celebrate a life lived with gusto and grace. His legacy of love, family, and community service will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were touched by his extraordinary life.
