In Memory

Andrew Robert Nielsen
Andrew Robert Nielsen was born August 25th, 1950 to Robert and Phyllis Nielsen in Kalamazoo Michigan. Growing up he had three younger siblings. Peter, Greg and Cherie. Andy loved to go on adventures. Sometimes riding his bike from South Bend all the way to Edwardsburg. He would bring home snakes and rabbits and other creatures he would find. His mother was not always a fan of that. One time catching him feeding a rabbit that he kept in his desk drawer so she wouldn’t find it.
Through school, he was active in athletics, including gymnastics and martial arts. He graduated from John Adams High School in 1968 and attended Holy Cross before marrying his first wife Shirley. They had two boys, Jason and Adam. They lost her to cancer when the boys were very young. He later married his second wife Elizabeth. They were together for almost forty years before his passing. He was very close with his three granddaughters. Jossie, Graycie and Daisy. And has several nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
Andy worked for I&M as a lineman until he got injured on the job. He eventually moved over to sales and never left. He started out selling cars and eventually moved up to selling custom box trucks at Supreme Corporation. He worked his way up to Regional Sales Manager before retiring. He was well respected by his friends, colleagues, and even his competitors. One of his favorite parts of the job was getting to travel and see the country. Flying in a helicopter over Las Vegas was one of his favorite memories. Taking a client out for karaoke was not.
He loved his family. Movies. Comedy. Guns and America. He went peacefully in his sleep on November 27th, 2021. He will be sorely missed and was loved by many. The family will be having a private gathering in his home to celebrate his life. Donations can be made in his name to Pet Refuge. Thank you and Godspeed…
