Jerry F. (Smutt) Keyes
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Clark's Funeral Chapel for Jerry Franklin (Smutt) Keyes, 26, of 702 S. Columbia, who was found dead last week after apparently being shot several times and then burned. Police are still investigating the circumstances of his death.
Rev. George A. Stewart, pastor of the First A.M. E. Zion Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. He was born on June 25, 1953, in Grenada County, Miss., and had lived here for 11 years, after coming from Nashville, Tenn. He attended John Adams High School, where he played football and ran track. He was also a member of the Salvation Army Church.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mrs. Johnnye Keyes Gibbs and Joseph Gibbs, of South Bend; his father, Willie Liddell of Grenada, Miss.; a daughter, Jerri Ann Keyes of South Bend; four brothers, George Davis, Adam, Donald and John Gibbs, all of South Bend; four sisters, Patricia Lidded of Milwaukee, Wis., Marsha Liddell, Idonnia and Martha Gibbs, all of South Bend and his grandmother, Mrs. Martha Keyes of South Bend.
