After high school I went to Bob Jones University where I received an undergraduate and master's degree in music. While in graduate school I was the music pastor in a local church. Over the next 12 years I was music pastor in 3 different churches, first in Greenville, South Carolina, then in Newington CT, and then in Kansas City, MO. In 1989 I became a Senior Pastor in Cedar Rapids, IA. I have been in Cedar Rapids for 34 years. We have 6 wonderful children and 14 grandchildren. We are looking at transitioning soon from the senior pastorate role into a subordinate role as assistant pastor or possibly taking another pastorate in a church that needs shepherding.

Nuner Elementary and Junior High school

Ronald Allen Hamilton (1969 graduate of John Adams and Marta Sue Hamilton (1971 graduate of John Adams). Ron went to be with the Lord at the age of 73, April 29th, 2023. He wrote Christian music and headed up his own music publishing company. When he lost his left eye to cancer he began wearing a leather patch over his eye. Children began calling him Patch the Pirate, so he started writing sacred children's music that focused on the gospel of Jesus Christ and godly character. That children's music developed into an entire children's ministry called Patch the Pirate clubs. Churches were using his music all over the USA and in many foreign countries. My sister, Marty directed school choirs that won highest honors at state competitions. She was also an English teacher. All three of us siblings had Mr. Hoover as our choral director at John Adams HS.
